Tegra Medical has placed first and third in the 2023 SFS Value Engineering Award competition, a group-wide initiative that promotes innovation and improvement across all SFS Group divisions. The award was presented at the SFS International Management Conference held on June 12-13, 2024.
Representing the SFS Medical Division, Tegra Medical entered two projects into the competition. The Tegra Medical project teams partnered with two leading medical device OEM clients, whose products the company manufactures. The winning teams realized automation and process optimization improvements for a vascular closure device, earning first place, and for a meniscal repair device, earning third place.
“Tegra Medical’s success in the 2023 SFS Value Engineering Award competition is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence. Our teams’ dedication to automation and process optimization has not only improved our efficiency and sustainability but also significantly reduced costs and enhanced production output. We are proud to have collaborated with our medical device OEM clients to achieve these remarkable results and are honored to be recognized for our efforts within the SFS Group,” said Mike Treleaven, Senior Vice President, Engineering.
The SFS Value Engineering Award Competition is held annually and is open to all companies within the SFS Group worldwide. This year a total of 30 projects entered the contest. The goal of the competition is to identify the best realized innovation, best digital innovation, or best production application or improvement among the projects submitted for consideration.
Entries are judged based on value creation through improvements in functionality and sustainability, as well as reduced costs, revenue growth and margin optimization. Judging also considers speed of deployment, diversity of thought and inclusion, and potential future applications.
Both Tegra Medical project teams achieved major improvements in efficiency, sustainability, cost reduction and production output by automating processes, streamlining logistics, and insourcing manufacturing to eliminate reliance on third parties.
