Tegra Medical Receives Manufacturing Excellence Award from Worcester Business Journal

FRANKLIN, MA–Tegra Medical is proud to announce that it has received the Manufacturing Excellence Award from the Worcester Business Journal. The eight recipients of this inaugural award were announced in its March 28, 2016 issue.

The article quotes Tegra Medical customer Steve Burpee, president and chief operating officer of Burpee Materials Technology of Eatontown, NJ: “”Tegra is very well suited in terms of equipment, technology and expertise to support a lot of projects at the component level or multi-component level. They are probably the best in the world at welding small bits of metal together, and they do it at commodity prices and with extremely high quality.”

Tegra Medical employs over 400 people in Massachusetts and has additional facilities in Mississippi and Costa Rica. “Our growth has been driven by an expanding list of customers in 19 market segments,” said Bob Miller, general manager for the company’s Franklin, MA facility. “Last year, the Franklin building shipped 26 million parts to 530 customers.”

This is the first year that the Worcester Business Journal has granted this prestigious award. The publication wanted to honor the numerous ways the industry contributes to the region, from its standing as an economic cornerstone to its role in the future of the Central Massachusetts economy. This meant awarding companies for partnering with startups to build prototypes, training hundreds of workers, cutting down on energy spending and developing new products to stay on the cutting edge of the worldwide marketplace.
