Nature of the Position

This individual is responsible for performing machine setups, executing programs, and carrying out production in accordance with work instructions and the specific parameters for each product. They must ensure the proper functioning of the equipment, as well as the quality of the product, in accordance with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the machines within the assigned area to machine parts, adhering to the specific data for the product being processed, as well as established procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitor the process and report to a Team Lead, Supervisor, or Engineer (following the established escalation path) whenever the process becomes unstable or requires support to maintain normal operating conditions (e.g., regarding scrap rates, product dimensions, etc.).
  • Observe machine operation to detect defects in produced parts or issues inherent to the machines themselves; report any anomalies to the Team Lead or via the established escalation path.
  • Be capable of stabilizing machines and processes as necessary, or of notifying a supervisor regarding any equipment anomalies.
  • Inspect and sample produced parts to ensure compliance with quality specifications; report both conforming and non-conforming parts so that production output can be accurately quantified and the work order properly closed.
  • Accurately document—in accordance with established procedures—measurements, sampling results, line clearance status, and counts of conforming and non-conforming parts using designated forms, thereby ensuring full traceability and process efficiency.
  • Propose improvements or modifications within the work area that benefit the production process, documentation, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Participate in the validation of new products or improvements to existing ones.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, designs, diagrams, and sketches to execute assigned tasks.
  • Assist, upon request, with the technical guidance and training of other personnel.
  • Support the fulfillment of production schedules by monitoring quality, output, and delivery dates, and by reducing the volume of non-conforming product.
  • Stay up to date on the area’s processes in order to provide assistance and support at all times.
  • Identify machine components and understand their functions, in order to report any anomalies or necessary equipment repairs.
  • Maintain the workstation in a clean and orderly condition at the end of each shift, in order to preserve facilities, instruments, and equipment (5S).
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions conducted both during and outside of regular working hours.
  • Comply with all company-established rules and procedures regarding Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), occupational safety, quality, and production.
  • Support and foster a healthy work environment within the company by encouraging proactivity, continuous improvement, and positive relationships among departments and colleagues.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by their immediate supervisor that are consistent with the nature of their position.

Skills, Education, and Experience Level

Technical degree in Precision Mechanics; blueprint interpretation; precision measurement systems. Proficiency with all precision mechanical measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.).

For the Grinding area, experience is preferred in:

  • General knowledge of CNC grinding
  • Knowledge of surface, cylindrical, and centerless grinding
  • Optical grinding machines
  • Tool and die making; knowledge of EDM and laser cutting

For the Swiss-type Lathe and Milling area, experience is preferred in:

  • CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Swiss-type lathes
  • Cutting tools

For the EDM area, experience is preferred in:

  • Wire EDM
  • Conventional EDM (sinker)
  • Plunge EDM

At least three years of experience in similar positions. Basic technical English is desirable.
