Bob Roche
President/Chief Executive Officer/Director
Bob joined New England Precision Grinding (NEPG) in 2003 as General Manager and served as VP/COO from 2004-2008. He was instrumental in the acquisition of American Medical Instruments (AMI), the merger with Accu-Met Laser (AML) and the selection of Riverside as an equity partner in 2007. Bob led the site selection process and build-out of the new Franklin facility and the company’s successful integration efforts in 2008-09, culminating in the rebranding of the three companies as Tegra Medical. He was instrumental in the acquisition of CTW, Inc. in December 2009, leading the company into the high growth Spine and Trauma markets. He was promoted to CEO in March 2010 and serves on the Board of Directors. Prior to Tegra, he was the VP/COO of Graycer Screw Products and Graycer Fabricating & Design, manufacturers of precision machined and sheet metal components for medical, laboratory automation and commercial markets. Earlier in his career, he held positions in materials, operations and distribution management with medical device companies such as Pharmacia Nu Tech, Haemonetics and Zymark Corp. Bob graduated cum laude from Boston College with a B.A. in Economics.
Jerry Mazzenga
Chief Technical Officer/Director
Jerry is a successful serial entrepreneur who has founded multiple companies over the past 30 years. In 1988, he launched New England Precision Grinding. Over the next ten years, he grew that business to more than 100 employees by shifting the focus to supporting the medical device industry. In 2007, he led the acquisition of American Medical Instruments and, subsequently, the merger with Accu-Met Laser and acquisition of all three entities by Riverside Partners. Jerry held the role of CEO until March 2010, when he stepped down in order to focus his time on technical issues, his true passion. Jerry continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Prior to NEPG, in 1970 Jerry founded two companies, Precision in Rounds and Precision in Motion, created to provide manufacturing services of cylindrical office products for the high tech industry. Those companies were sold to Moore Business Forms. Earlier in his career, Jerry founded and operated a couple of small businesses providing precision grinding services. Jerry graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Engineering.
Dale Cole, Jr.
President, CTW, Inc./Director
Dale is the President of CTW, Inc., which was acquired by Tegra Medical’s holding company in December 2009. Founded by Dale’s father in 1977, CTW evolved from its inception as a tool maker using manual processes to a manufacturer of precision machined components using the latest CNC equipment. Dale led the company into the orthopaedic market beginning in the early 2000s and today CTW serves the medical device industry exclusively with a particular emphasis on spinal implants and instruments. Dale has worked at CTW his entire career, starting as an apprentice while he was still in high school. He progressed through various roles, ultimately taking over as President in 1999. He brings together a unique blend of innovative machining expertise and sound business knowledge that have resulted in tremendous growth since he assumed leadership of the company. In addition to continuing in his role as President of CTW, Dale also joined the Board of Directors at Tegra Medical.
Tom Burns
Vice President, Business Development
Tom joined Tegra Medical in 2008. He has had a long and varied career in the medical device industry and contract manufacturing. He is responsible for all sales, marketing and customer care services at Tegra Medical. Prior to Tegra, Tom was Vice President Sales & Marketing at Web Industries, a custom converter serving the medical and aerospace markets. Tom spent 9 years at Accellent and its acquired companies, holding the position of Vice President Sales & Marketing, Orthopaedic Division, for the last five years. Accellent is a leading supplier of manufacturing services to the medical device industry. For the first fifteen years of his career, Tom held various sales and marketing jobs with Genzyme Bio-Surgery, Edwards Lifesciences and Johnson & Johnson. He began his sales career with Whitehall Laboratories and Bristol Myers. Tom graduated with honors from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Marketing.
Bob Miller
Vice President, Operations
Bob has 10+ years of experience in the medical device industry and joined Tegra Medical in 2008. Prior to joining Tegra, Bob served as Operations Director & Plant Manager for Smiths Medical. He was the business leader of a $100 million dollar franchise and plant manager for North American headquarters of a $1.5 billion dollar business. During his ten years at Smiths Medical, Bob worked at international sites in Mexico and the United Kingdom, consolidating manufacturing plants and rolling out new ERP systems. Bob holds a B.S. in Operations Management and Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts, graduating magna cum laude and recognized as first in class for OMIS graduates. He holds a professional supply chain accreditation from Northeastern University and is a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.)
Jean Mattar
Vice President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
Jean started with Tegra Medical in April 2009 after spending six years at DePuy, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson. Jean began there as a quality engineer and progressed through several promotions ending as Group Manager of Worldwide Supplier Quality Engineering, supporting five global operating sites. In that role, he was responsible for developing significantly improved process capability, quality competency and risk management skills in the preferred supplier base for the Orthopaedic, Mitek, Codman and Spine divisions of DePuy. Jean is a certified Black Belt in Six Sigma and has had extensive training in lean manufacturing. Prior to joining DePuy, Jean was Technical Director at Cooley Group, a manufacturer of coating and specialty extrusion products. Jean began his career with the Polaroid Corporation spending 11 years there, ending as Operations Manager after various roles in Quality and Process Engineering. Jean holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, a M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from National Technological University and a M.B.A. from Regis University.
Joe Kajano
Vice President, Finance/Chief Financial Officer
Joe joined Tegra Medical (New England Precision Grinding at that time) as CFO in 2004 and played an important role in the acquisition and merger with American Medical Instruments and Accu-Met Laser. Earlier in his career, Joe was CFO and Operations Manager for Process Packaging & Control, from 2001 through 2004. Before joining PPC, Joe held various financial and senior staff positions over an 18-year career at Zymark Corporation in Hopkinton, MA. After joining Zymark in 1983, Joe gained broad business experience in a variety of financial roles up through the position of Worldwide Financial Controller, with primary focus in manufacturing and international operations. Prior to working at Zymark, he was employed at Waters Associates and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Joe graduated with honors from Boston College with a B.S. in Accounting.
Deborah L. Harnois
Vice President, Human Resources
Deborah joined Tegra Medical in October 2008 with 20 years of manufacturing and medical field experience in a variety of corporate Human Resource Management positions. Before Tegra, she was Director of Human Resources for New England Medical Care Association, a large medical group that provides contract medical services to hospitals and owns and operates twelve outpatient medical facilities. Prior to that, Deborah was also the Director of Human Resources for the Double E Company, Inc., a multi-national engineering and manufacturing company in the paper, film and foil web converting and packaging industries. Deborah was engaged in the private practice of law in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut where she specialized in employment and labor law. Deborah holds a B.A. in Political Science from Rhode Island College, an M.S. in Criminal Justice and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School--all with honors.
