Tegra Medical Careers - Process Development Engineer

Tegra Medical, a rapidly growing medical device contract manufacturer, is looking for a Process Development Engineer to work in our GENESIS Tech Center® (GTC). This is a highly visible career opportunity.

The GTC is a dedicated 18,000 sq. ft. manufacturing space whose sole focus is to provide quick solutions for our customers’ medical device product development needs. The GTC offers all of Tegra’s production-quality machining services needed to develop and launch new medical device products quickly and cost-effectively. It has been designed to deliver on our tagline of solutions, speed and service: dedicated quoting and customer service, a broad assortment of equipment, experienced engineers and machinists and a focused leadership team with a passion for customer service. This will include Rapid Response Manufacturing – quick turnaround on prototypes and pilot production as well as providing engineering solutions by manufacturing process experts who design for manufacturability and assembly as well as process development & prototyping.

This role requires an outgoing, energetic person who enjoys engaging customers throughout the development process, has excellent project management expertise and possesses intimate knowledge of manufacturing technologies typically employed in the manufacturing of medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Determine, evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of medical device products.
  • Provide manufacturing support (DFM) with direct customer interaction.
  • Determine operations to produce prototypes and/or products and develop processes to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met.
  • Support the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel.
  • Troubleshoot problems with production and take corrective action.
  • Machine components and tooling as required.
  • Create/edit/maintain necessary documentation.
  • Assess the availability of raw materials and their safety and environmental impact of the facility.
  • Work closely with other specialists (including scientists) for quality control of raw materials and completed components and assemblies.
  • Assume responsibility for safety/environmental issues and ongoing performance of processes.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least four (4) years engineering experience in a small device manufacturing environment is required. Must be a self-motivated, hands-on individual with a strong sense of urgency and passion for the customer. Must have the ability to react quickly to changing requirements and new processing developments as well as have a keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience with CAD systems, Microsoft Project and other relevant software systems a plus.
